If your car is compatible with the new firmware update, read on to learn more about how to make the update happen. Mercedes-Benz has been busy these past few months, releasing a major update for their Comand 20 system. This new release contains a refreshed user interface and lower system requirements while integrating CarPlay for almost all models on the market. The new firmware update is only compatible with Windows-based computers and laptops. The older versions of the Mercedes Command system (Comand 1 and Comand 2) were both compatible with Mac and Linux based computers. If your car is compatible, it’s fairly simple to get the update downloaded. Just follow these steps: 1. Download the necessary update files onto your computer from here . Make sure you get the right version of the update for what you are running, you can check this on your current home screen or by going into settings then system information. You will need to re-download any current maps that are saved to your computer after making any changes to your system software. 2. Once you have the files on your computer, open up Mercedes-Benz Maintenance program, which is the option right under the Word Word of your Start Menu. 3. Open up ‘Checking of new updates’ and select ‘Mercedes Comand Update’. 4. Click on ‘Start’ to begin downloading the new update files onto your computer. 5. When it is complete, restart your computer and then open up Mercedes-Benz Maintenance again and click on 'Installation of Mercedes-Benz software update'. 6. Click on ‘Start’ to continue installation. 7. You will see a confirmation message at the end, and this will open up the new Mercedes Comand 20 interface once you restart your vehicle! 8. Enjoy your refreshed system! Remember that if you already have an older version of Mercedes Comand 20, this process will erase all saved addresses and favorite points you have on your car’s navigation system. If you want to get the old version of the system back, just open up Mercedes-Benz Maintenance again and click on ‘System update’. If your vehicle is not compatible with Mercedes Comand 20, you will still have access to all previous versions.
